Ahn Hyo Seop made his first-ever appearance on a music variety show, and Park Bo Gum made sure he didn’t forget it.
On the July 11th episode of the KBS music show The Seasons: Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile, Ahn joined as a guest. The nervous actor admitted, “I’ve watched this show so many times but never imagined I’d be on it. I’m seriously nervous right now, but I’m excited to get to know everyone.”
Park Bo Gum was clearly in a playful mood from the start. “Let’s do a 10-second eye contact challenge to loosen up,” he grinned. When Ahn asked if the studio was always this hot, he deadpanned, “No, it’s usually cool in here.” The staring contest ended with Ahn breaking eye contact first, much to everyone’s amusement.
The teasing didn’t stop the duo from diving into real conversation. Bo Gum brought up Ahn’s role as the voice of Jinu, the leader of the fictional K-pop boy group Saja Boys, in Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters. “It was your first time doing voice acting, right? You were amazing,” Bo Gum praised. Ahn replied, “It was my first time acting in English, and it was nerve-wracking but fun. I’ve always loved animation, so getting to be part of the production process was really exciting.”
When asked if he mimicked character actions while recording, Ahn shared, “Sometimes there were only sketches or rough animations, and the scenes weren’t fully put together. I had to act based on audio cues from other cast members. It was definitely a challenge.”
Park also discovered that Ahn’s love for music runs deep. Ahn revealed he plays piano, guitar, and violin. “My parents were really into music, so I was exposed to it from a young age. Music’s always been a friend to me, especially during tough times,” he said.
Later in the episode, Ahn serenaded the audience with “A Thousand Years,” a song he took out of the setlist for his fan meeting last minute. He followed up with a medley of “Gather My Tears,” “In Your Arms,” and “Gratitude,” accompanied by Park on piano. Afterward, Park adorably dabbed the sweat off Ahn’s face, drawing cheers from fans.

Wrapping up the show, Park asked, “How was being on ‘Cantabile’ with me today?” Ahn joked, “You made me feel really comfortable—well, aside from a few uncomfortable moments,” prompting Bo Gum to gasp in mock offense and continue doting on him with more tissues.
