JTBC is going big on weekends, rolling out two separate weekend drama titles starting this fall.
Beginning in July, JTBC will launch its “Friday Series” every Friday evening, creating a double weekend drama system that runs from Friday through Sunday. The Friday evening double-header will kick off the weekend, with JTBC’s Saturday-Sunday dramas picking up the baton to fill weekends with must-watch content.
Leading the Friday Series charge is Good Man (literal title) starring Lee Dong Wook and Lee Sung Kyung. This emotional noir follows Park Seok Cheol (Lee Dong Wook), the eldest son of a gangster family who harbors unexpected pure-hearted feelings, and his first love Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung), who dreams of becoming a singer.
My Youth, featuring Song Joong Ki‘s transformation into a florist alongside Cheon Woo Hee, will also join the Friday Series lineup. Seo Hyun Jin’s Love Me (literal title) rounds out the roster, promising to deliver deep emotional resonance through an ordinary family’s not-so-ordinary story.
JTBC’s Saturday-Sunday drama lineup remains equally formidable. Following the first half’s The Tale of Lady Ok and The Art of Negotiation, the comic action youth detective series Good Boy starring Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun launches this weekend.
Up next in the pipeline are Esquire: Lawyers Who Dream of Being Lawyers, A Hundred Memories, The Story of Manager Kim, and Waiting for Gyeongdo (all of them literal titles)—a diverse slate spanning genres and generations.
Esquire pairs Lee Jin Wook as elite lawyer Yoon Seok Hoon, who’s cold but undeniably skilled, with Jung Chae Yeon as rookie lawyer Kang Hyo Min, who’s righteous and spirited but clumsy at office politics.
Set in the 1980s, A Hundred Memories presents a bittersweet love triangle featuring Kim Da Mi and Shin Ye Eun as bus conductors, alongside the new heartthrob Heo Nam Jun. The Story of Manager Kim tells the journey of a middle-aged man (Ryu Seung Ryong) who loses everything he once considered valuable, only to discover his true self after a long journey.
Closing out the year is Waiting for Gyeongdo. With “ratings guarantee” Park Seo Joon and rising newcomer Won Ji An together, expectations are sky-high.
JTBC’s Friday Series will air two episodes every Friday at 8:50 PM KST starting this fall. Saturday–Sunday dramas will continue airing Saturdays at 10:40 PM and Sundays at 10:30 PM.
