Seo Ye Ji candidly opened up about the misunderstandings and prejudices surrounding her.
On the March 30th episode of TV Chosun’s Huh Young Man’s Food Travel, Seo Ye Ji traveled to Gangwon Province with cartoon artist Huh Young Man. While dining together, Huh Young Man asked her, “How many meals do you have a day?” She replied, “Four meals. I stay up late, so I get hungry in the middle of the night,” surprising him with her answer.
Huh Young Man complimented her, saying, “For someone who eats late at night, you stay in great shape.” Seo Ye Ji responded with a laugh, “I was fine in my 20s, but after turning 32, I don’t lose weight as easily when I eat late. I guess that’s just aging in your 30s.”
Reflecting on her 12-year acting career, Seo Ye Ji shared, “I feel like I’ve played a lot of dark roles. My characters always seemed to have deep wounds and sought revenge.” She admitted feeling the burden of such roles, adding, “When I play a villain, people assume I have a similar personality in real life. That perception made it hard for me to meet people.” Still, she reassured, saying, “But I’m okay.”
When asked if there were frustrating moments in her career, Seo Ye Ji replied, “Many. But it’s not just a one- or two-day thing, so I’ve tried to accept and move on. However, staying silent often led to greater misunderstandings than I expected. Over time, the stress became overwhelming.” In response, Huh Young Man advised, “The key is to avoid reading comments,” to which Seo Ye Ji agreed with a bright smile.
She also reflected on holding her first fan meeting in 11 years, saying, “It was a chance to finally meet the fans I had been missing. Even now, thinking about it makes me emotional.” She expressed her deep gratitude to her fans, eyes welling with tears.
