Han Ji Eun shared her experience working with high-profile co-stars in an interview with iMBC Entertainment on February 24th, celebrating the conclusion of both tvN’s When the Stars Gossip and TVING’s original series Study Group.
The versatile performer captivated audiences simultaneously through two contrasting roles—as the tough-exterior, soft-interior heiress Choi Go Eun in When the Stars Gossip and as passionate contract teacher Lee Han Kyung in Study Group. The latter has been a particular success story, topping paid subscription numbers for four consecutive weeks.
“I saw a rough cut halfway through filming and thought it was entertaining. I heard the platform had high expectations too, but I never expected it would do this well,” Han expressed gratitude regarding Study Group‘s unexpected success.
As a 20-year industry veteran, Han reflected on working with less experienced actors and rising stars including Hwang Min Hyun, Lee Jong Hyun, and Cha Woo Min, who portrayed students in Study Group. “It was really fun and a new experience,” she smiled. “In my previous projects, I mostly acted with peers or older actors, but this was the first time I filmed on a set where I was the most senior. Fortunately, Min Hyun took the lead and guided everyone well. I was able to naturally blend in with these pure and bright friends and get close to them. We got along well without worrying about seniority.”
She particularly praised Hwang Min Hyun as “a truly diligent actor,” adding, “Now I understand why everyone only has good things to say about Min Hyun. He’s really diligent and always steadfastly and quietly present in his place.”
Regarding her work with superstar Lee Min Ho in When the Stars Gossip, where they played an engaged couple, Han shared, “Lee Min Ho is the same age as me. He’s very down-to-earth and has a ‘playful side.’ Being the same age, we really got along.”
When the Stars Gossip concluded its run on February 23rd, while all episodes of Study Group were released on February 20th.
