Netflix has confirmed the production of its new series Show Business (working title), assembling an A-list cast including Song Hye Kyo, Gong Yoo, Seolhyun, Cha Seung Won, and Lee Ha Nee.
Set against the backdrop of Korea’s entertainment industry from the 1960s to 1980s, Show Business chronicles the journey of ambitious individuals who, despite having nothing, throw themselves completely into pursuing their dreams of success during an era marked by savagery and violence.
The series brings together an impressive creative team, with acclaimed writer Noh Hee Kyung, known for crafting stories that evoke both tears and laughter, including Our Blues, It’s Okay, That’s Love, That Winter, The Wind Blows, and Worlds Within. Adding to the project’s prestige is director Lee Yoon Jung, who has cultivated a devoted following through her work on hit series like Coffee Prince and Cheese in the Trap.
Song Hye Kyo is set for another transformative role as Min Ja, a character who develops an unshakeable inner strength through childhood hardships. The character boldly seizes an opportunity in Korea’s music industry while struggling to survive. This marks Song’s third collaboration with writer Noh Hee Kyung, following Worlds Within and That Winter, The Wind Blows.
Gong Yoo takes on the role of Dong Gu, Min Ja’s childhood friend who later joins her in the music industry. While unpredictable in nature, he shows unwavering loyalty to Min Ja. Fans are particularly excited about Gong’s reunion with director Lee Yoon Jung, their first collaboration since Coffee Prince.

Seolhyun portrays Min Hee, a character with a complex love-hate relationship with Min Ja from childhood. The actress will showcase a multifaceted performance, from innocent devotion to Min Ja to sharp-witted rebellion.
Cha Seung Won plays Gil Yeo, a legendary composer known for turning artists into stars, marking his second collaboration with writer Noh following Our Blues. Lee Ha Nee rounds out the cast as Yang Ja, Min Hee’s mother, who pursues her dreams of becoming a singer despite harsh realities and financial struggles.
