Harbin has reached 4,180,433 admissions as of January 12th, cementing its position as 2025’s first box office success. Since its Christmas Eve release, the film has maintained its reign at the top of the box office for 19 consecutive days.
Harbin now ranks among 2024’s top five Korean releases alongside Exhuma, The Roundup: Punishment, I, the Executioner, and Pilot. To commemorate the 4-million milestone, the cast released thank-you messages and photos, expressing sincere gratitude to audiences.
In a notable achievement for a Korean historical film, Harbin has secured distribution deals in 117 countries, demonstrating both its critical and commercial appeal. Following these international sales and ancillary rights agreements, the break-even point has been reduced from 6.5 million to 5.8 million admissions. With the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday and February spring break, analysts suggest the film is well-positioned to reach its break-even target.
Set in 1909, Harbin chronicles the high-stakes pursuit between Korean independence activists on a crucial mission in Harbin and the relentless forces trailing them during a pivotal moment in Korea’s fight for sovereignty.
