In Season 2 of Netflix’s Squid Game, the competition will feature traditional Korean games exclusively.
Netflix’s official channel released a video featuring the cast of Squid Game Season 2 responding to fan theories from around the world. In the video, Korean actors Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon shared, “Season 1 of Squid Game received immense love globally,” adding, “We will see if the fun and interesting speculations from different countries match the content of Season 2.”
Lee Byung Hun, who plays the Front Man, addressed speculation about character changes in Season 2. He responded to a theory suggesting that he might appear in an animal mask as a VIP and appoint Seong Gi Hun (played by Lee Jung Jae) to the Front position, saying, “It’s a funny idea, but it doesn’t really reflect the actual story.” He added, “Still, I prefer the boss role.”
He also discussed the fan theories, stating, “If Season 1 was like a national championship for Squid Game, then Season 2 is akin to a national team selection. Maybe there will be foreign participants and games as well? Season 3 could turn into a global competition, like the World Cup—let’s aim for Season 3!” He concluded, “In Season 2, you’ll see many new games, but they will be Korean games.”
Finally, the cast shared, “There were comments that made us laugh because they were so outrageous,” expressing their excitement that “Season 2 will be even more enjoyable than all the combined ideas.”
