‘Fxxk, Fxxk, $hit, B!tch,’ – these were just some of the curses heard from a girl group during their first live broadcast moments after they made their debut.

Catching the attention of fans worldwide, the global K-Pop girl group KATSEYE, under Geffen Records and HYBE, made their debut on June 28th with the single, “Debut” and have been the center of the scene for the past few days. Now, it seems they are receiving even more attention after their live broadcast blunder!

The members Sophia, Manon, Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae (the only Korean member) greeted fans through Weverse Live on the day of their debut. Before officially starting the broadcast, the girls can be seen energetically lining in and sitting in their seats. While playfully bantering amongst one another, the girls said they should “let it all out now” and curse and such before they make any mistakes while live. However, some of the members didn’t realize they were already broadcasting to over thousands of viewers and began saying inappropriate expletives continuously and rapidly.

One Twitter user posted the video with the caption, “katseye letting all the cussing out before going live without knowing they were already live in gonna peeeee 😭😭😭😭” and the video went viral soon after. But how did fans, both Korean and internationally, react?

The girls, alongside international fans, laughed off the situation and found their blunder to be more than hilarious. Even some Korean fans posted comments saying, “”They’re exactly like what I imagine typical American teenagers to be like lol,” “This is cute. They’re pretty real middle/high schoolers ㅋㅋㅋㅋ,” and “All American curse words just sound funny to my ears.”

Yet, some fans began wondering if another K-pop group did this, wouldn’t they be in severe trouble for such an accident? Is this an exception that shouldn’t be made just because the group is a foreign K-Pop group? When the topic was brought up, mixed reviews and double standards were obvious among the comments. “I mean, yes, if a K-pop group based in Korea did this, they would be getting slammed right now.. But they’re based in the U.S., so I’m sure it’s no big deal.” Perhaps it should be taken more seriously? See some fan reactions below.

HYBE and Geffen Records have yet to respond to the situation and Weverse also made no official statement regarding their live policies and KATSEYES’ mistake.

What do you think of this new girl group and their radical first debut? Not many groups have such a…wild first day of events like this. It seems KATSEYES really lived up to the name of their lead single “Debut.” Check out the MV below and let us know in the comments what you think of the members and this silly accident.
