Kim Soo Hyun Voted Korea’s Most Beloved Actor, Kim Ji Won and Namkoong Min Follow

Kim Soo Hyun has been named Korea’s favorite actor.

Gallup Korea conducted a survey from March 22nd to April 5th, polling 1,777 people aged 13 and older across the country (excluding Jeju) about their favorite actors. The results, released on the 19th, show Kim Soo Hyun leading the pack with 6.4% of the votes. Namkoong Min and Kim Ji Won tied for second place with 2.9% each. Cha Eun Woo and Kim Nam Joo shared the fourth spot with 2.7% each. Other actors in the top ten included Choi Soo Jong (2.5%), Song Joong Ki (2.3%), Choi Bool Am (2.2%), Go Doo Shim (2.0%), and Kim Go Eun (1.8%).

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won both garnered significant attention for their roles in the tvN drama Queen of Tears, which ended its run in late April. Cha Eun Woo and Kim Nam Joo starred in the MBC drama Wonderful World around the same time. Choi Soo Jong took on the role of General Kang Kam-ch’an in the KBS2 historical drama Korea–Khitan War, and Namkoong Min starred in MBC’s My Dearest.

Kim Soo Hyun previously topped the list in 2014 following his performance in SBS’s My Love from the Star. The actors in the top ten have all been active for over a decade and are known for their exceptional acting skills. The actor with the shortest career among them is Cha Eun Woo, who debuted in 2014, while Choi Bool Am has had a distinguished career since his debut in 1967.

Other talents who received more than 1% of the votes included Han So Hee, Kim Hye Ja, and Park Eun Bin (1.7% each), Park Seo Joon (1.6%), Son Ye Jin (1.5%), Song Hye Kyo and Kim Yoo Jung (1.2% each), Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Hye Soo (1.1% each), and Jo Jung Suk, Lee Bo Young, and Gong Yoo (1.0% each).
