Go Joon Hee has finally spoken out about the persistent rumors linking her to the Burning Sun scandal.
In a video released on the YouTube channel “STUDIO SUZE” on the 11th, Go Joon Hee appeared as a guest. Host Jang Sung Kyu cautiously brought up the subject, saying, “This might be a sensitive topic, but your name came up in connection with the Burning Sun scandal, which was even covered by the BBC recently.”
Go Joon Hee didn’t hold back her frustration, responding with, “Those sons of b*tches.” She added, “Honestly, I don’t understand why my name is associated with Burning Sun. I don’t even know where it is, and I’ve never been there. I’ve been saying for years that I’m not involved, but no one listened, and what I said was edited out.”
She addressed the infamous photo with Seungri, explaining, “That photo was taken at a W magazine breast cancer campaign event. We were under the same agency at the time, and he asked for a selfie, which I agreed to. I didn’t even know he posted it on Instagram because we weren’t following each other. When the Burning Sun incident exploded, I was too busy filming a drama to pay attention.”
Go Joon Hee revealed her disappointment with YG Entertainment’s response, or lack thereof. “I contacted the company, thinking a simple denial statement would clear things up. But they did nothing. An actor’s image is everything, yet they couldn’t even release one article to clear my name. I left the company, hired a lawyer, and defended myself.”
She also shared the personal toll the rumors took on her family, saying, “My mom developed vertigo because of the stress. I kept telling her I was fine, but it was too much for her. I regret that my career caused her pain.” Fighting back tears, Go Joon Hee reflected, “It’s tough to clear your name when you’re innocent. I never showed how hard it was, but those times were a real learning experience.”
The Burning Sun scandal, which has resurfaced due to a BBC documentary released on the 19th, continues to affect those linked to it, including Go Joon Hee.
