BTS’s J-Hope has been honored with the top award at the “2024 Strong Warrior, Army!” presentation competition, where he shared his heartfelt reflections on his military service.

On the 5th, it was revealed that J-Hope, real name Jung Ho Seok, participated in the event held at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul. His speech, titled “From Leading K-pop Worldwide as BTS’s J-Hope to Serving as a Proud Korean Soldier, Jung Ho Seok,” captivated the audience and earned him the top prize.

J-Hope shared, “After enlisting, I saw BTS videos and photos in the mental strength training materials used by recruits. When recruits complete their training, they tell me, ‘It was an honor to train with you.’ Each time, I feel that I am taking meaningful first steps with those who are a pillar of South Korea’s security.”

He continued, “Just as I contributed to Korea’s cultural development with my blood, sweat, and tears on stage, I now feel that I am contributing in a different way as a soldier. Serving as a soldier in South Korea, where my presence can be a source of strength, fills me with immense pride.” J-Hope’s heartfelt words were met with applause and cheers from the audience.

Besides J-Hope from the 36th Infantry Division, three soldiers from the 22nd Infantry Division and three from the 55th Infantry Division also received top awards. Each winner was presented with a certificate from the Army Chief of Staff, a trophy, and a cash prize of 500,000 KRW (approximately 380 USD).

J-Hope enlisted as an active-duty soldier in April last year and is currently serving as an instructor at the 36th Infantry Division’s recruit training center.
