In a recent interview at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Park Bo Gum, the star of the upcoming film Wonderland, opened up about his close friendship with Byeon Woo Seok and his experience acting alongside Suzy.
Park Bo Gum and Byeon Woo Seok have been good friends since they worked together on the 2020 tvN drama Record of Youth. Byeon Woo Seok recently attended the VIP screening of Wonderland to support his friend, and his role in the popular drama Lovely Runner has also sparked renewed interest in his performance in Record of Youth.
Reflecting on their bond, Park Bo Gum shared, “Woo Seok came to the screening and told me, ‘The movie was amazing. It was so touching.’ We had a great time working together on ‘Record of Youth.’ I think the drama plot itself is much like Woo Seok’s story. That’s why I wanted to support and cheer him on even more.” He added with a smile, “I talked to him the other day, and he told me to take care of my health. It was really nice.”
Park Bo Gum also spoke about his first acting experience with Suzy in Wonderland. He remarked, “She’s a friend with many charms.” In the film, he takes on dual roles as Tae Joo, a man who wakes up from a coma to a confusing reality, and an AI boyfriend also named Tae Joo in the “Wonderland” service. Praising his co-star, he said, “Suzy isn’t just a great actress; she’s also down-to-earth, respectful, and considerate. I thought she was a really good friend.” With a laugh, he added, “But I think I did well too. I was serious and dedicated in every moment.”
Recalling a conversation with Director Kim Tae Yong about potentially making a musical film featuring himself and Suzy, Park Bo Gum shared, “He was half-joking, half-serious, but I told him I’d love to work with Suzy as Tae Joo and Jung In again.”
It’s not just the fans and prospective audiences eagerly anticipating the chemistry between Park Bo Gum and Suzy in Wonderland. In a previous interview, Tang Wei, another star in the film, mentioned, “I hope Park Bo Gum and Suzy actually date.” Addressing this, Park Bo Gum said, “I saw that article. We’re really close, and I hope things don’t become awkward.”
Park Bo Gum also mentioned watching his appearance in the music show The Seasons with Suzy, saying, “I thought, ‘We look beautiful. Why do we look so pure?'” expressing his satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Wonderland tells the story of a video call service that uses AI to recreate deceased loved ones, allowing people to reconnect with them. The film is set to hit theaters on June 5th.
