Ryu Jun Yeol has opened up about the controversies surrounding his personal life, stating that he believes remaining silent is the best course of action and that he will maintain this stance in the future.
During a May 23rd interview for his Netflix series The 8 Show, Ryu Jun Yeol shared his thoughts on the issues with his ex-girlfriends, Hyeri and Han So Hee.
“I’ve read many stories through articles and faced a lot of criticism,” he said. “It seems like people connected well with the image I had when I first started out, during auditions and all. Seeing different sides of me over time may have come as a surprise, even a betrayal, to some fans. I’ve taken some time to look back on all of that, read about it, and reflect on it. I’ve been spending time thinking about what I’ve done wrong and what I’ve missed.”
He explained, “The press event was for The 8 Show, so I thought it would be better for me to talk about the issue in a separate interview. Many people were sharing their guesses and thoughts on the internet, asking ‘What’s the truth?’ But at that time, I thought it was best for me not to say anything and just accept the criticism that came from it. I still think that way.”
Ryu Jun Yeol continued, “I felt staying silent would be the best way to prevent the rumors and speculation from snowballing. Saying anything new seemed like it would just fuel the fire. That’s what I thought was best.” He added, “There are many reasons for it, but I don’t think I can explain them all, and I don’t think that would be the best thing to do. It would be great if I could just open up about all my pain and let it go, but that’s not the case, so I’m going to carry it all.”
When asked if there was anything he really wanted to clarify, Ryu Jun Yeol said, “No, I’ve always been like this, and I’ve never thought about addressing it later when the attention dies down. I think I have to accept everything that comes with it, and I don’t think I’ll feel any better if I talk about it more.”
He added, “I think what’s important is not what is seen on the outside, but what is in my heart. I think I need to consider approaching people honestly without being obsessed with the image I project.”
