In an exciting development for fans, BLACKPINK’s Jennie is set to release her first single since parting ways with YG Entertainment and establishing her personal label. The announcement came from her label, Odd Atelier, which shared the cover image for the collaborative track “Slow Motion” with rapper Matt Champion.

Released on the 8th at 2 PM KST, Slow Motion marks Jennie’s first venture into music under her own banner. The track, a collaboration with Matt Champion, a member of the American hip-hop band Brockhampton, has already garnered anticipation. Jennie expressed her excitement with the words, “I can’t wait for the world to hear our song.”

The connection between Jennie and Matt Champion dates back to their meeting at the Coachella last year, where their friendship blossomed. International media have described the upcoming track as “incredibly ethereal and liberating,” highlighting how well it complements Jennie’s vocal timbre.

After renegotiating her contract with YG Entertainment in December to continue group activities with BLACKPINK, Jennie launched her individual label, Odd Atelier. This “solo yet together” strategy has kept fans on their toes, with Slow Motion being her debut solo release since striking out on her own. The spotlight is firmly on Jennie as she embarks on this new chapter in her music career.

Matt Champion, known for his work with BROCKHAMPTON, has also been making waves in the music scene, with his single ‘Slug’ released earlier this year. Together, Jennie and Champion are poised to deliver a track that promises to blend their unique sounds into a memorable musical experience.
