G-Dragon, widely recognized as a fervent art enthusiast and named one of the “50 Arts Collectors to Watch” by the ArtNews in 2019, is taking a groundbreaking step as his original artwork is set for auction for the first time ever.

The piece, titled “Youth is Flower,” is a contemporary art, created seven years ago in 2017. The work features a dynamic composition of marker and spray on a metal panel, complete with the artist’s signature and the work date on the lower right corner.

While estimates for other artworks are readily available online, G-Dragon’s piece intriguingly requires “inquiry for price.” According to Seoul Auction, the starting bid is set at 30 million won (approx. 23,000 USD), with the final sale price to be determined in an auction scheduled for March 29th at 3 PM KST.

G-Dragon, who once cited Francis Bacon as an inspiration for BIGBANG’s hit “BAE BAE,” is poised to become an inspirational figure himself within the art community.
