A group of artists and cultural figures will present a statement titled “Demands of Cultural and Artistic Figures Facing the Passing of the Late Actor Lee Sun Kyun” at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on January 12th.
Formed around 29 cultural and artistic organizations, the Association of Cultural Artists (literal translation) has emerged to address the untimely death of Lee Sun Kyun in their belief that such a tragedy should never be repeated again in the industry. Their unified efforts include calling for a comprehensive investigation by authorities, requesting the removal of articles that do not align with ethical reporting and calling for the revision of current laws to protect the human rights of cultural and artistic figures.
The statement will be announced by director Bong Joon Ho, singer and songwriter Yoon Jong Shin, director Lee Won Tae, actor Choi Deok Moon, and other relevant organization leaders.
