Episode 12 of JTBC’s Welcome to Samdalri reached an average nationwide viewership rating of 9.8 percent, marking the highest viewership throughout the entire series.
The previous episode on December 6th had Yong Pil (played by Ji Chang Wook) and Sam Dal (Shin Hye Sun) confirming their feelings through a heartfelt kiss. However, the story took a dramatic turn in the following episode as a shocking video of Sam Dal getting beaten by Eun Ju’s mother was released, igniting fury among the villagers.
Eun Ju and Chung Gi’s arrival in the village added further tension. Word spread quickly, and a group of villagers gathered to deliver their version of justice to the couple. The duo realized the impending threat and hurriedly escaped the furious crowd, only to stumble upon Mi Ja’s tangerine field. There, Mi Ja caught the two and poured vinegar on them, expressing her anger over what they did to her daughter.
At the end of the episode, Sang Tae interrupted the long-awaited sweet moment between Yong Pil and Sam Dal. Sang Tae yelled at her in tears, “I pleaded with you not to come back eight years ago! Why on earth did you come back here? Please go back to Seoul!” As Yong Pil realized the reason behind their past breakup, tears ran down her face, leaving viewers wondering what would happen to them next.
