IU Sets the Bar High for Giving With Over $3.8 Million in Cumulative Donations

IU began the new year by donating 200 million won ($151,906) to support vulnerable groups in society, reaching a total of 5 billion won ($3.8 million) in cumulative contributions.

IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment shared the news, stating, “IUAENA (referring to IU and her fanbase) contributed 200 million won ($151,906) for heating and welfare expenses to four organizations – the Korea Association of Senior Citizens, the Korea Child Welfare Association, the Korea Association of Single Mothers, and the Korea Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled – on December 31st, 2023.”

Industry insiders estimate IU’s net worth to be over 5 billion won ($3.8 million). The Hong Kong-based English-language newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP) named her the richest K-pop artist in 2021, with her net worth estimated at 52.7 billion won ($40.02 million), nearly 9 billion won ($6.83 million) more than Lee Hyori’s 46 billion won ($35 million). Rounding out the rest of the top 5 list are Sandara Park with 35.1 billion won ($26.7 million) and BoA and Suzy with 29.2 billion won ($22.2 million).

IU also has a remarkable real-estate portfolio, including a 13 billion won ($9.87 million) villa in Cheongdam-dong, completed last December, and a Gwacheon workshop building valued at 4.6 billion won ($3.5 million). She also owns property in Yangpyeong-gun, having acquired a two-story villa spanning 170 pyeong (6049 square feet) for 2.2 billion won ($1.67 million) and additional land around the house for 800 million won ($607,591).
