Netflix has officially confirmed the production of its first Korean-language animated movie, titled Lost in Starlight, featuring Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung as the voice actors for the show. Lost in Starlight is a romantic movie that portrays the long-distance relationship between a musician named Jay, who resides on Earth, and an astronaut named Nan Young, who lives on Mars.

Kim Tae Ri lends her voice to the character of Nan Young, an accomplished astronaut and scientist. She has held onto the dream of finding her mother since her disappearance during a Mars probe. Nan Young’s wish finally comes true when she is chosen for the 4th Mars Exploration Project in the year 2050.

Hong Kyung takes on the role of Jay, Nan Young’s romantic interest, who is not only a musician but also a specialist in repairing retro instruments. The heartwarming romance between the two begins when Jay serendipitously reunites with Nan Young, all thanks to her old turntable inherited from her mother.

Both Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung are set to participate in pre-recording and filming live-action scenes to bring a deeper and more realistic portrayal of their characters’ emotions.

Han Ji Won, responsible for writing the script and directing the upcoming film, made a notable impact on the domestic animation industry with the release of Kopi Luwak, a short film she directed during her time at Korea National University of Arts. Her recent short film, The Sea on the Day When the Magic Returns, has also been invited to the Sundance Film Festival.

Lost in Starlight is being produced by Climax Studio, the same company behind D.P. and Jung_E.
