It has been revealed that New York has the highest number of millionaires in the world, while Seoul ranks 16th.
On the 18th, various international media outlets, including The National, cited a report by the British investment advisory firm Henry and Partners. The report indicated that as of the end of last year, there were 340,000 people with assets over $1 million residing in New York.
Tokyo came in second place with 293,000, followed by San Francisco with 285,000. London ranked fourth with 258,000, and Singapore ranked fifth with 241,000.
Seoul has a total of 97,000 millionaires, placing it 16th globally. Moreover, the report revealed that 229 super-rich individuals with assets over $100 million live in Seoul.
As people become more interested in who these 229 individuals are, reports have surfaced that BTS’s Jin and Jungkook, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and actor Lee Jung Jae are among the few who own the Hyundai Card’s “The Black,” which is the country’s first VVIP card limited to only about 1,000 people.
It was also reported that singer Lim Young Woong, who is praised as one of the “moving small and medium-sized enterprises,” purchased a single-family home worth $4.5 million in Hannam-dong, a neighborhood where only the super-rich reside.
