BTS’ leader, RM, has caught the attention of fans and media alike with his insightful responses during a recent interview with the Spanish news outlet EL PAIS. The interview was released on March 13th, 2023.

When asked if he was tired of hearing the “K” label, RM replied, “While it may be frustrating for us to be constantly categorized as K-pop artists by platforms like Spotify, I believe that the label itself represents exclusivity and a commitment to high standards of quality that our predecessors fought for.”

EL PAIS posed another question, asking whether RM believed the process of forming an idol group was inhumane. The singer replied, “Although there isn’t much personal time, that’s what makes K-pop shine. We’ve put all our energy and time into BTS from our 20s to our 30s.”

He continued, “My agency doesn’t like it when I answer this question because I agree to some extent. However, there are aspects that make the K-pop industry unique in a positive way. There have been many improvements in areas such as contracts, payment, and education.” RM spoke candidly about the topic.
