Kim Young Kwang and Lee Sung Kyung posed for ELLE Korea.
During the interview, the two actors dished on their upcoming series Call It Love. Kim Young Kwang described his character Han Dong Jin, a target of a woman’s revenge, as someone “who doesn’t know how to express himself among those who’re in a hurry to show their emotions.”
Lee Sung Kyung plays Shim Woo Ju, a woman who plots revenge against Dong Jin. “I was attracted to Woo Ju’s reckless and honest lines in the scripts, but later I realized that she’s actually a clumsy woman with no ‘gene for revenge.’ Such changes were intriguing. You’ll see the most laughless character (I’ve ever played).”
The two both thought that their co-star was “perfect” for the role. “Sung Kyung was Woo Ju herself. She’s an awesome actress who flexibly chooses and concentrates even on a busy set,” Kim Young Kwang commented. Lee Sung Kyung chimed in, “He resembles the lonely aura Dong Jin has in my imagination. It was like I had met a man in the script in real life. There were lots to learn from the way he was constantly thinking about each scene.”
When asked about each other’s strength in the romance project, Kim Young Kwang chose Lee Sung Kyung’s puppy-like cuteness and Lee Sung Kyung chose Kim Young Kwang’s bright smile.
Their new series Call It Love tells an emotional love story of a woman who jumps into revenge even though she wasn’t built for one and a man who’s too pitiful to be the target of revenge. So what does love mean to them? Kim Young Kwang replied, “Keeping an eye on that person. Not wanting to miss a moment of them.” And Lee Sung Kyung answered, “You can rejoice and laugh with anyone when you’re happy, but if you’re heartbroken when that person is hurting or has disappeared, then I think that’s love,”
