Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In will tie the knot after two years of dating. However, this joyful news has been met with mixed reactions.

On February 7th, the actor personally announced his marriage to Lee Da In through a handwritten letter, and the actress’ agency 9ato Entertainment also confirmed their upcoming marriage.

The two began dating publicly in May 2021. As the actor was having trouble with his previous agency Hook Entertainment, their marriage news was supposed to be something that would make the public happy for him. However, many are divided and have been giving mixed opinions about the marriage announcement.

This is because Lee Da In’s father was sentenced to prison for manipulating stock prices and earning unfair profits in 2011. Her father received three years of prison sentence after falsely claiming that a KOSDAQ-listed company would invest in the medical bio-industry, taking $21.1 million and diverting the funds for purposes other than those publicly announced. He reportedly used the proceeds to pay off his debts instead of investing.

He was arrested again on the same charges in 2016, two years after completing his sentence in 2014. He was put on a trial on charges of profiting more than $1.83 million by inflating the stock price of a KOSDAQ-listed company of which Da In’s mother, Kyeon Mi Ri, was the major shareholder.

After hearing the marriage news, some of Lee Seung Gi’s fans congratulated him as he was fighting with Hook Entertainment over the unpaid music profit issue, while others were reluctant to do so. One of his fans wrote, “I loved you. You are finally marrying that person. I hope you have no problem promoting your future activities in the entertainment industry, though I cannot congratulate you.”
