All eyes are on whether BLACKPINK will break the “seven-year curse” by renewing their contract with YG Entertainment.

The girl act’s current contract with YG Entertainment expires in August. However, it is highly unlikely that they will renew their contract with the label, according to Munhwa Ilbo.

The report says the group is now worth a whole lot more and that Lisa was offered $10 million from an overseas label. Since she’s from Thailand, it seems like the Asian markets are approaching the singer with a large sum of money.

However, BLACKPINK members won’t be deciding who to work with based on how much money they will get offered. To continue promoting as members of BLACKPINK, they have to come to an agreement with YG entertainment as the label holds the rights to the group’s name.

Industry insiders predict that YG will offer at least 20 billion won (about $16.3 million) to each member to keep their contract on track

Currently, BLACKPINK is hosting a world tour that mobilizes a total of 1.5 million concertgoers, with a ticket price of 120,000 won (about $98) per person. They make about 180 billion won (about $146.4 million) on concert sales, and considering the amount of money they make with their music and endorsements, the money YG is preparing to offer them is expected to be significantly high.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s world tour will end in June, two months before the expiration of their current exclusive contract with the label.
