Taeyang revealed how he got to collaborate with BTS’ Jimin.
On the 13th, Taeyang dropped his new single VIBE. Ahead of the release, the singer held a countdown live and shared various stories about his upcoming song.
“I thought and worried a lot about if the day would come when I could make a comeback with a new song, and it’s finally happening,” the Big Bang member opened up. “And it’s nice to be able to do it with Jimin, such a wonderful boy.”
The person who suggested Taeyang’s collaboration with Jimin was The Black Label producer Teddy. “It was about two years ago. At the time, BTS members weren’t doing solo promotions, and after I was discharged from the army, I was working on my solo songs.”
He then recalled, “Teddy said in passing, ‘It’d be nice if Jimin and Taeyang dropped a cool song,’ and it really shocked me. That thought hadn’t even crossed my mind until then.” Taeyang then added that he met BTS members on various occasions like parties and dinners. “Then I met Jimin one day. We got to talking, and I just happened to ask about doing a collaboration.”
Taeyang also shared what it was like filming the MV together. “We first met on the set, and as we rehearsed, I thought we might actually look cool. And I remember while taking photos (for album covers), we were both satisfied with the unexpected hip-hop duo vibe we were exuding.”
