Kim Jung Hyun talked about how he prepared for his upcoming drama Kokdu: Season of Deity.
This upcoming fantasy romance series is about the grim reaper who comes down to this world to punish humans every 99 years meeting a doctor with a special ability. In Kokdu: Season of Deity, Kim Jung Hyun plays two characters – Kokdu, the grim reaper, and Doctor Do Jin Woo.
“The first impression of this project was ‘reckless,'” the actor recalled. “Maybe it’s because of Kokdu’s personality. I was attracted to the project and character’s charm – not being able to guess where they’re heading.”
Kim Jung Hyun then talked about his roles as Kokdu and Do Jin Woo. “Kokdu is very dynamic, and Do Jin Woo is quieter than him,” he explained. “So I tried to make Kokdu’s expressions bigger than what I imagined and restrain Do Jin Woo’s expressions. And that caused the differences in the clothes and the tone of the voice.” He then added, “Rather than focusing on the dual role, I tried to concentrate on the goal of each character’s scene.”
When asked about what to look for in the drama, Kim Jung Hyun said, “I hope you follow the flow of the story. If you do so, you’ll naturally discover what it is that we want to talk about.”
Lastly, the actor commented, “Like how Kokdu passes through the cold and long winter, meets Gye Jeol (Im Soo Hyang) who melts his frozen heart, loves passionately like the summer sun, and fades out like fallen leaves, I hope you remember Kokdu: Season of Deity as a lonely yet beautiful drama. I hope it starts as spring and ends as fall.”
Meanwhile, Kokdu: Season of Deity will premiere on the 27th at 9:50 PM KST.
