Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow ended on a high note, recording an average nationwide viewership ratings of 9.7 percent.

The final episode shows Jang Wook (played by Lee Jae Wook) and Jin Bu Yeon (Go Youn Jung) walking down the aisle together, having Master Lee (Im Chul Soo) as their officiant. As she has always wished, Bu Yeon gets her real name, Cho Yeong, called at the ceremony.

But their happiness is short-lived as Jang Wook gets warned of the looming crisis approaching the world. The young Bu Yeon (Yoon Hae Vin) advises Jang Wook that he and Jin Bu Yeon should save the world together.

Meanwhile, Jin Mu (Jo Jae Yoon), who was thought to be dead, breaks the firebird’s barrier. Jin Ho Kyung (Park Eun Hye), Kim Do Ju (Oh Na Ra) and Park Jin (Yoo Jun Sang) almost lose their lives while trying to stop him but get saved by Master Lee and Cho Yeong. Jang Wook successfully suppresses the firebird’s powers, and young Bu Yeon returns Naksu’s soul to where it belongs as he prevents the chaos from ruining the world.

A year later, Jang Wook and Bu Yeon are seen capturing the 31 escaped Jinyowon relics to protect the world. Seo Yul (Hwang Min Hyun) takes over Jeongjingak, and Park Dang Gu (Yoo In Soo) and Jin Cho Yeon (Arin) are seen taking care of their twin children. Go Won (Shin Seung Ho) becomes a saint, and Kim Do Ju surprises everyone with her pregnancy news.

Everyone got their ultimate happy ending, and the show’s second part satisfied viewers by resolving all cliffhangers in the series.
