An investigation into the person who leaked BLACKPINK’s Jennie‘s personal photos has been officially launched.
On Monday, YG Entertainment confirmed, “We have officially requested the police to investigate the person who first leaked BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s personal photos.” Photos of Jennie with BTS’ V have been leaked online for about a month now, quickly heating up Jennie and V’s dating rumors.
“In order to minimize further damage, we have refrained from commenting or expressing our position about the matter,” the agency continued. “However, we feel heavily responsible as rumors, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy triggered by personal photos are being made indiscriminately. So we’re announcing our plan for legal action and will try to rectify the situation.”
YG announced that they’ll take stern legal action against posts that damage the artist’s reputation. The company has sued those who repeatedly uploaded unverified content or wrote excessively malicious posts for defamation, illegal distribution, obscenity using communication media, etc.
In particular, the label stressed, “We plan to take all legal actions without any leniency.” They added, “Photos distributed online were illegally released without permission. Sharing them is a secondary offense as well as subject to criminal prosecution.”
