IU confessed that she’s been suffering from hearing issues during her recent concert.

On the 18th, IU held her solo concert “The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun” at the Olympic Stadium in Jamsil Sports Complex. Meeting her fans after three years, she shared, “To be honest, today’s performance was a bit difficult.”

“I had some problems with my ears, so I prepared for this concert feeling all nervous. It’s nothing serious, but I couldn’t control my ears for the past year,” she went on. “Fortunately, my throat was in good condition, but my ears got worse since the end of yesterday’s concert, so I felt like I was in hell while rehearsing last night and today.”

IU added, “Even as I started my first song, I got on the stage thinking, ‘I don’t know what’ll happen.’ You guys are the ones who really did everything for today’s concert.”

It’s said that IU covered her ears during the rehearsals, worrying her fans. It was revealed in “Pieces: 29th Winter,” IU’s documentary released earlier this year, that she’s been having hearing issues. She was diagnosed with Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction, a disorder of the valve of the Eustachian tube that causes it to remain open. When this valve remains open, sound can travel from the nasal-sinus cavity to the ears, allowing you to hear your own voice or your own breathing too loudly, or even the sound of blood pumping.
