On September 16th, Squid Game creator sat down for an interview to celebrate their historic win at this year’s Emmy Awards.

Hwang Dong Hyuk, the creator of the mega-hit South Korean series, revealed an alleged release window for the new season being sometime in 2024. “The filming will most likely begin next year, and the series will air sometime in 2024,” said the producer. “I’m now working on the script for the next season, and I cannot reveal any details on the new games because it would spoil the fun of the viewers.” He also added, “What makes the series unique is the tension caused by the game as viewers watch the series from the contestants’ perspective. The stories are engaging because you don’t know what will happen next. But if I give out spoilers, it won’t be fun to watch.”

The creator said, “I didn’t know Sae Byuk (played by Jung Ho Yeon) or Ji Young (Lee Yoo Mi) would become this huge. Now I regret killing them so early in the series. I have so many things going on in my head right now.”

He also revealed that he has no plan to cast Hollywood actors in the second season, saying, “The new season is set in Korea.”
