BTS, BLACKPINK and SEVENTEEN made history at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on August 28th.
BTS received six nods this year at the music awards, including Best K-pop, Best Choreography, Best Metaverse Performance, Best Visual Effects, Best Group of the Year, and Best Song of Summer, and managed to bag Best Group of the Year. This is the fourth consecutive time BTS has bagged an MTV VMA award.
BLACKPINK also snagged two awards. BLACKPINK was nominated for Group of the Year, and member Lisa got a separate nomination for Best K-Pop with her single “LALISA.”
On the event night, BLACKPINK created history by winning Best Metaverse Performance, while Lisa took home Best K-Pop for the solo album she released in September last year.
SEVENTEEN won their first VMA award at the Push Performance of the Year category. They were previously nominated in three categories, including Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year (“Rock With You”), and Best K-Pop (“HOT”), among others.
