BLACKPINK will perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on August 28th!
YG Entertainment stated, “BLACKPINK is gearing up for their special stage appearance at this year’s Video Music Awards. The group and staff members are putting their best effort into creating a meaningful moment for BLINKs from all over the world.”
MTV’s Video Music Awards is one of the four major music shows in the United States, along with the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the American Music Awards. BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to join the performer lineup for this year’s event and the fourth among all female groups, including TLC, Spice Girls and Fifth Harmony, to make their appearance on the show.
Two years ago, BLACKPINK won the Song of the Summer award for their mega-hit song, “How You Like That”. This year, the group was nominated for Best Metaverse Performance for hosting PUBG Mobile 2022 In-Game Concert, while Lisa got a separate nomination for Best K-Pop (âLALISAâ).
Following the release of their single âPink Venomâ on August 19th, BLACKPINK will drop their second studio album BORN PINK on September 16th.
