Alchemy of Souls has started filming part 2. Lee Jae Wook, Yu Jun Sang, and other leading actors will reprise their roles, but not Jung So Min, according to a report.

On Tuesday, Hankook Ilbo reported that tvN’s drama Alchemy of Souls recently started filming part 2. According to a source, Alchemy of Souls, which was originally planned as a 20-part series, has already finished part 1 consisting of 10 episodes and begun filming part 2, which will also consist of 10 episodes.

However, the premiere date for part 2 is still under discussion. Previously Director Park Joon Hwa explained his decision to split the show into two parts. “It was harder than I thought to unfold the story and all the relationships in a 20-part show. So we decided to (split the show into two parts) early on,” he commented.

The cast will stay the same except for the female lead. Unlike part 1, in which Jung So Min played the lead role, Go Youn Jung will be leading part 2. Regarding this, Jung So Min’s agency Blossom Entertainment responded, “She’s not leaving the show. She originally signed the contract to only appear in part 1.” The rest of the cast – Lee Jae Wook, Yu Jun Sang, Hwang Minhyun, Shin Seung Ho, Yoo In Soo – will reprise their roles.

Soon after the news hit the wire, the Alchemy of Souls production team stated, “Any information regarding part 2 could act as a spoiler for part 1, which is still on air, so we can’t confirm or deny the report.”

Meanwhile, Alchemy of Souls is a fantasy romance drama set in a country that doesn’t exist in history or on maps. It follows the protagonists whose fate has been twisted due to the soul-changing magic.
