The hater who has been writing malicious comments against IU was sentenced to probation.
The artist-and-actor’s label EDAM Entertainment released an official statement on the 21st regarding the lawsuit against the haters. “Since 2019, we have been providing evidence of the perpetrator who habitually posted insults, slander, and malicious posts about IU online,” they wrote.
The company continued, “After an investigation, all the crimes of the perpetrator were recognized. And as a result, the court judged that the crime was ill-will as the perpetrator’s crimes were repeated for a considerable period of time and sentenced to 8 months in prison with 2 years in probation, 180 hours of community service, and 40 hours of sexual violence treatment.”
“We will continue our follow-up measures so that if the hater repeatedly commits a criminal act even after the court’s ruling, he can receive a more severe punishment,” they added. “We will do our best to protect the rights and interests of our artists so that no further damage occurs, and we emphasize once again that we will respond more strongly without any leniency or settlement in the process.”
Meanwhile, IU recently gained worldwide recognition as an actress through the movie Broker.
