Former Stray Kids member Kim Woojin was cast to play the lead in the new HBO Max original series Além do Guarda-Roupa.

On the 18th, the artist’s agency 10x Entertainment announced, “Kim Woojin will appear as the main character in the HBO Max original Além do Guarda-Roupa (Beyond the Closet), which will be released next year.”

Além do Guarda-Roupa tells the story of an ordinary teenage girl living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, who meets a popular K-pop boy group after going through a mysterious portal inside the closet. Korean-Brazilian actress Sharon Blanche will play the heroine “Carol.” Kim Woojin takes on the role of Kyungmin, a member of the K-pop boy band ACT.

This is the first time HBO Max has cast a Korean actor for its global project. In an interview with a Brazilian media outlet, Kim Woojin shared, “As I play ACT’s Kyungmin, I’m feeling that excitement I felt when I first debuted as a member of a team.”

Meanwhile, Kim Woojin debuted as a member of Stray Kids in 2018. He left the team in 2019 for personal reasons and terminated his exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment. Since then, he has released a couple of songs and albums, promoting as a solo singer. He will return to Korea in June after finishing Além do Guarda-Roupa.
