The popular drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One got swept up in a controversy out of the blue.

On Sunday, a post raising questions about the minor-adult romance in Twenty-Five Twenty-One went viral online. In the recently aired episodes, a 23-year-old college student Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk) was seen confessing his love to 19-year-old high schooler Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri). This is what some viewers took issue with.

Baek Yi Jin told Na Hee Do, “I’m in love with you.” He then added, “This has nothing to do with what you think of me. Whatever you do or no matter what you look like, I’m in love with you for who you are. I couldn’t ask for anything more than to make you happier by telling you how I feel about you.”

These were some of the negative comments about the scene: “If this happened for real, that’s disgusting.” “I’m afraid the minors will start wishing for this.” “He could’ve just waited until she was no longer a minor.” “Stop showing minor-adult romance.”

However, some stressed that this was only a drama: “This is a drama, a fictional story.” “I had no problem with it.” “If they don’t date until she becomes an adult, what’s the problem?”

In fact, there weren’t any inappropriate scenes involving Baek Yi Jin and Na Hee Do as some viewers claimed. On the contrary, the two became a rock for each other from their first meeting to their reunion.
