On March 6th, Squid Game star Lee Jung Jae has won the award for Best Male Performance in a New Scripted Series at the 37th  Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Lee Jung Jae gave his acceptance speech through a pre-recorded video. He started off by saying, “Thank you for giving me this meaningful award.  I wish I could be there in person, but due to my work schedule in Korea, I’m sending this video message instead. Thank you so much for loving Squid Game”.

He added, “I know there are lots of Squid game fans in the world, and what you’re all curious about the most is when season 2 will come out. It’s on the way. Stay tuned!”

Lee Jung Jae became the second Korean actor to be honored at the annual awards after Youn Yuh Jung won the Best Supporting Female award for her role in Minari last year.

The Squid Game star recently made history at the 28th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, becoming the first Korean actor ever to win Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series.
