Wikitree has confirmed that IU was preparing for the “2022 Concert” but ended up canceling it.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government released the document for “Cancellation of approval for using Jamsil Olympic Stadium and Processing of Return (2022 IU Concert)” on the Seoul Information Communication Plaza, Seoul’s information disclosure system.
The document states, “Article 11(4) of the Seoul Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Sports Facilities (Return of usage fees). If it becomes impossible to use the facilities at all due to unavoidable reasons such as natural disasters and the game or event can’t be hosted, the full usage fees and admissions fees will be returned.”
An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Government told Wikitree, “We handled the administrative process when they (IU) made the request. We can’t give any details, but I think they made the request due to the recent spike in COVID confirmed cases.”
According to the information gathered, IU has been preparing for the 2022 concert at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium. But she had to scrub all plans due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. However, the singer has never mentioned any plans for a concert in 2022.
