The release of Netflix’s latest South Korean drama, All of Us Are Dead, on Friday sparked a tremendous increase in user activity on Twitter over the weekend, propelling the show to the top of Variety’s Trending TV chart for the fourth week of January. According to Variety’s report, the new Netflix horror series dethroned HBO’s Euphoria from the list for the first time in four weeks.

The American media company explained, “Anticipation began building for All of Us Are Dead when Netflix dropped its wild and gory trailer in mid-January, and with all 12 episodes available to binge over the weekend, there was plenty to chat about online,” and introduced the show as “an inventive live adaptation of a webtoon” that offers a new take on the zombie drama with its unique high-school setting.

Variety magazine also pointed out that there have been inevitable comparisons between the new Netflix drama and Squid Game due to its recent success with North American audiences. They explained that fans were particularly struck by Lee Yoo Mi, who stars in both shows in completely different roles.

All of Us Are Dead easily topped Variety’s Trending TV chart with more than 395,000 engagements this week, and HBO’s Euphoria landed in second place with nearly 299,000 engagements. The Book of Boba Fett settled into the third spot, as it strayed from its title character to focus on Pedro Pascal’s character in a new “Mandalorian-centric” episode.
