Squid Game became the first non-English TV show to earn a nomination at the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards. According to multiple media outlets on January 27th (U.S. Time), the drama became a nominee for the Best Episodic Drama at the PGA awards.
The news garnered attention as the series became the first non-English language TV program ever to score a nomination for the PGA Awards. The award ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on March 19th.
The South Korean hit series will be competing with big shows like Yellowstone (Paramount Networks), The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu), The Morning Show (Apple TV Plus), and Succession (HBO).
Previously, Squid Game was nominated for multiple awards including the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Awards, Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards, Art Directors Guild (ADG) Awards, Costume Designers Guild (CDG) Awards, and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
The drama is about hundreds of cash-strapped players accepting a strange invitation to compete in children’s games. Inside, a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize awaits with deadly high stakes.
