SBS Through the Darkness has joined MBC’s Tracer in the battle for the Friday-Saturday drama ratings.

Through the Darkness got off to a promising start. Starring Kim Nam Gil and Jin Seon Kyu, the drama tells the story of the first South Korean criminal profiler who struggles to read the minds of serial killers. The cards were stacked against the new show as it was rated R and as its previous shows had suffered poor viewership. However, Through the Darkness saw a sharp rise in ratings on its second episode, scoring an average nationwide viewership rating of 7.5 percent.

Tracer is also heating up with more surprises. Im Siwan, Go Ah Sung, and Son Hyun Joo‘s new show follows the employees working at the 5th division in the National Tax Service, also known as “the landfill of human resources.” The show premiered on the 7th, and its first episode scored an average nationwide viewership rating of 7.8 percent. The show is currently the most-watched Friday-Saturday evening drama with slight ups and downs in ratings. As Tracer is receiving attention more than ever with Im Siwan in action, the rating race will now be tougher on Weekend evenings.
