The eighteenth episode of The King’s Affection recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 9.4 percent, seeing a 1.0 percent rise from its previous episode.
The last two episodes showed Lee Hwi (Park Eun Bin) going through a crisis and a breakup while struggling to protect the people she cares about. With the help of his father, Hwi and Ji Woon (Ro Woon) were able to stay near each other as a king and his servant. However, the reunion couldn’t last long as people in the palace noticed the unusual atmosphere between the two. People started spreading rumors about their forbidden relationship, leading them to face a heartbreaking parting. In the end, Hwi had to painfully watch Jung Ji Woon making up his mind to marry Shin So Eun (Bae Yoon Kyung).
To make matters worse, Hwi had no choice but to let go of her loyal servants who have kept her secret as her opponents moved a step closer to discovering Hwi’s real identity. However, whenever there is a parting, a meeting is sure to come. Ji Woon eventually found out that Hwi is his first love Dami. Upon learning the truth, he rushed up to her and asked, “Is it you, Your Majesty? Are you Dami?” THe show ended with Hwi looking all puzzled in shock.
