BTS received awards in three music categories at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, which aired live on the 7th (local time).
The global boy band took home three trophies today. First, BTS became the Group of 2021, beating out Coldplay, Dan and Shay, Jonas Brothers, and Maroon 5. Additionally, they won The Song of 2020 and The Music Video of 2021 for their smash “Butter.”
BTS said, “We are happy to receive this award because it means many people have recognized our efforts. We got to where we are now because ARMY had our backs. We wanted to make people going through tough times happy with our song. Thank you so much for loving ‘Butter.'”
The act became the night’s top winner, alongside Dwayne Johnson, with three awards each.
In the meantime, Netflix’s mega-hit series Squid Game became the bingeworthy show of 2021.
Meanwhile, BTS is now on their second extended vacation. They will not be attending music awards in Korea, but they plan to release a new album and hold concerts after the break.
