Melancholia has seen a significant rise in ratings. The seventh episode, which aired on December 1st, recorded average nationwide viewership ratings of 2.7 percent.
The episode showed what had happened to Im Soo Jung (played by Ji Yoon Soo) and Lee Do Hyun (played by Baek Seung Yoo) four years after the incident that took place at her wedding. Even after all those years, Seung Yoo was still looking for Yoon Soo, with his unspoken feelings towards her.
While some found that the pacing of the story was too slow and had too many painful events, the new episodes offered up some interesting new phases within the same drama. Many have left favorable reviews on Lee Do Hyun turning into a full-fledged adult, who has overcome his past emotional traumas.
So far, many have decided to switch channels from Melancholia as the villains brutally bullied the main leads in the play. Will Lee Do Hyun’s romance with Lim Soo Jung and his revenge on those who wronged him bring back the viewers it’s lost?
