The King’s Affection is all ready to meet the viewers.

An online press conference for KBS’s new Monday-Tuesday series The King’s Affection was held on Friday. This upcoming historical romance drama revolves around an abandoned child who was born as twins in the palace. Although she was abandoned for being female, when her twin brother, who was raised as a crown prince, dies, she steps in his shoes dressed as a guy.

Director Song Hyun Wook introduced, “It is a romantic historical drama, but there are action, politics, and comedy. All kinds of genres are mixed in a complex way.”

Park Eun Bin plays Lee Hwi, who became the crown prince after his twin brother died. “It was a character that I dreamt about but could never do. So the moment I read the scripts, I found a new dream. Also, I had this great desire to wear my own yongpo (king’s robe). The plot was also fascinating. I was sure that it would become a rare and precious work,” she said.

“It was a bit distant (from the role) because such a role was never seen before,” the actress continued. “Rather than separating Hwi as a male and Hwi as a woman, I thought it was important to convince (the people) about the person named Hwi.”

Rowoon will challenge his first-ever historical series as Jung Ji Woon, Hwi’s teacher and first love. “I didn’t think about it (after I was offered the role) for a long time. Every single line touched my heart. I wanted to try the genre badly, and I also wanted to work with Park Eun Bin.”

About his role, the actor explained, “If Hwi has to hide everything, Ji Woon has no reason to do so. I think that’s what attracted Hwi.”

Meanwhile, The King’s Affection will premiere on the 11th at 9:30 PM KST.
