Hellbound is a story about a supernatural phenomenon where mysterious creatures suddenly appear on Earth and begin dragging people to hell. A cult sees this as an opportunity to take control while some try to uncover the secret behind the mysterious religious group.

The released trailer shows a glimpse into the strange paranormal activity. Jun Jin Soo (Yoo Ah In) is the leader of the new religious group, “New Truth Society.” He preaches the existence of an angel who appears with a prophecy and the envoys from Hell that execute the sentence. His absurd claims turn into a frightening reality when a man is killed in the middle of the city.

When the time came, the envoys from Hell appear out of nowhere. And the man, who is trembling in fear, desperately runs away but is eventually turned into a pile of black ashes. This terrifying incident hints at the fear of those who witnessed the shocking phenomenon and the world that’ll fall into dark chaos.

Hellbound  is based on a webtoon of the same name with a rating score of 9.77.  Train to Busan director Yeon Sang Ho and Awl writer Choi Gyu Seok directed and wrote the drama adaptation. On top of that, A-list stars — You Ah In, Park Jung Min, and Kim Hyun Joo — have joined the cast.

Hellbound will premiere at the 46th Toronto International Film Festival (September 9th to 18th) and the 26th Busan International Film Festival (October 6th to 15th). After that, Hellbound  will be released in more than 190 countries via Netflix.
