Yoo Hae Jin is in talks to join Ryu Jun Yeol in the new movie The Owl.
According to industry insiders, Yoo Hae Jin has recently joined The Owl as the new leading actor and is coordinating details. In response, Yoo Hae Jin’s agency shared that the actor’s positively reviewing the offer.
The Owl is a new historical film that revolves around the death of Crown Prince Sohyeon, who has returned from the Qing dynasty during the Injo of Joseon era. Ahn Tae Jin, an assistant director of King and the Clown, will helm the production.
Originally, Choi Min Sik was cast to play King Injo. However, he exited the production due to disagreement over the script, and the role went to Yoo Hae Jin. If he officially joins the project, he will be working with Ryu Jun Yeol, who’ll play a visually impaired person who makes a living with acupuncture.
The last time the two worked together was in the 2019 film The Battle: Roar to Victory. Besides The Battle: Roar to Victory, the two have also starred in A Taxi Driver together. So if Yoo Hae Jin is officially cast to play the lead, this will be the third movie they’ll do together.
Meanwhile, it is said that Yoo Hae Jin has been reviewing the offers he got after finishing filming Confidential Assignment 2, and The Owl has caught his attention. Since the actor mostly played the role of a commoner, him playing the role of a king will certainly draw attention.
The Owl will begin filming in September.
