Netflix announced the release of its new original series ‘D.P.‘ and dropped three teaser posters and a trailer.
D.P. (Deserter Pursuit) tells the story of a soldier who has been conscripted into a special squad sent out to chase down deserters from the military. The series revolves around Joon Ho (Jung Hae In) and Ho Yul (Koo Kyo Hwan), who come across various stories. Soon, they face a reality they didn’t know while chasing the deserters.
It’s based on the webtoon D.P Dog Day, written and drawn by Kim Bo Tong, which garnered 10 million views. Director Han Jun Hee, who got invited to the 68th Cannes Film Festival with his feature debut film Coin Locker Girl, helmed the production.
Even those who completed their military duties won’t know much about the Deserter Pursuit. They grow out their hair, wear civvies, and work outside the base to catch the deserters.
Private Joon Ho is looking back at you when everyone’s saluting. He was conscripted into a special squad even before he fully adjusted to the new military life. He teams up with corporal Ho Yul and goes after the deserter.
The trailer released together begins with Joon Ho’s struggles in the new environment. The moment he realizes that he won’t adjust to the military life that well, sergeant first class Bum Goo offers him a spot in D.P. Soon, he partners with skillful yet sneaky Ho Yul and goes after the deserters.
To complete their mission of “catching the deserters safely,” Joon Ho and Ho Yul jump over the rooftops and run nonstop. Will Joon Ho find the answer to his question, “Why are you working so hard to catch them?”
Meanwhile, D.P. will be released on August 27th.
