On the 21st, President Moon Jae In appointed BTS as his special envoy for public diplomacy.
Presidential spokesperson Park Kyung Mee stated, “President Moon appointed BTS as a special envoy to lead the global agenda for future generations and culture to enhance our diplomatic relations by expanding our country’s worldwide influence.”
BTS will attend major international meetings, including the 75th U.N. General Assembly in September. Furthermore, they will deliver a message of consolation and hope to youth all across the world. Plus, they will participate in a variety of activities addressing various social issues such as the environment, poverty, inequality, and respect for diversity.
Spokesperson Park continued that the lyrics of BTS’ new song convey hope, and their choreography includes sign language for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people with a sense of coexistence and harmony. She added, “This appointment is especially meaningful because it is in line with the countries’ determination to overcome the pandemic crisis with the cooperation of the international community.”
According to Park, “BTS has spread hope and positive energy to people around the world who are suffering from a prolonged pandemic. Therefore, their new position is expected to help the nation enhance its global stature as a leading nation in the post-COVID era.”
