Former B.A.P member Himchan attempted to take his own life on the night of June 13th.
According to media outlets, Himchan reportedly blamed himself for his past wrongdoings, such as sexual harassment and drunk driving, and committed such spontaneous act. It is said that his mother had received a call from Himchan’s friends and stopped the attempt.
Shortly before this, Himchan posted an apology letter on his Instagram. In it, he wrote, “I’m aware of my mistakes and negligences, and I apologize for every aspect of those. I hope everyone is happy. And please forgive me for returning your favor of trust in this way.”
Himchan was put on trial in 2018 on charges of sexually molesting a woman in her 20s at a pension in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. In February, the court sentenced Himchan to 10 months in prison. Since then, the idol filed for an appeal.
Last October, Himchan released a new single album while he was still facing charges at court. Around the same time, he was caught by the police for drunk driving and was booked without detention, causing an even more controversy.
